What Cleaning method do you use?

Hot Water Extraction: This is a fancy way of saying that a hot water cleaning solution under high pressure is forced into the carpet and sucked out of the carpet. This method is also referred to as steam cleaning even though steam is not used. You can choose from two types of hot water extraction—portable extraction which is done with a small machine, or truck mount extraction which means a large cleaning machine is mounted in a truck or van. Not surprisingly, the truck mount extraction cleans much better because it heats the water to over 200 degrees and shoots the cleaning solution into the carpet at around 400 lbs. of pressure, which breaks up the dirt and kills the bacteria and germs. Then the machine uses high-powered suction to draw the dirt out of the carpet. In effect the carpet is sanitized due to the high water temperature, and only truck-mounted “steam cleaning” can accomplish this. We use this method and carpets dry in 4-8 hours.

How often should I clean my carpets?

Your carpets should be professionally cleaned every 12 months. When cleaned and maintained correctly, the carpet life is extended. Your carpet will not be damaged if cleaned correctly and on a regular basis. It is the unseen bacteria, soils and allergens that cause the damage.

Is it better to get an estimate over the phone or in person?

If you are sure of the square footage or dimensions of the rooms, we can provide an over the phone or email estimate. Note that the price we give you over the phone or email is an estimate; upon arrival, the technician will make a visual inspection with you, and if the measurements are not correct or you have trouble stains that you want us to take care of, he will provide an updated estimate on site. If you are unsure of the square footage that needs cleaning, we can come out to your home or office and give you a FREE written estimate. An in home/office written estimate is the best way to get an accurate idea of pricing.

Will all stains come out of my carpet?

There is a difference between spots and stains. Spots, which we do not charge extra for, are dark spots on the carpet that will come out with high-quality cleaning. Stains, on the other hand, we do charge extra for as they are a completely different process. Stains are usually colorful or have a lot of substance to them. Some examples of stains would include food dyes, Kool Aid, wine, ink, make up, gum, wax, coffee, etc. Different stains require different removal processes. If at the completion of cleaning there are stains that have not been removed in the cleaning process that require extra treatments such as "Heat transfer methods" or "Spot dyeing" these procedures will be discussed with you and a quote given for the removal of these more difficult stains. We will also discuss with you whether the stain will respond to extra treatment and the likelihood of the stain being able to be removed, partially removed or lightened or if the stain is deemed permanent. Often extra treatments as mentioned above are not required as 85% of spots and stains are removed during the initial cleaning process.

Can you remove pet urine stains on carpet and upholstery?

We have a success rate of about 80-90%. However, the success depends largely on how long the stain has been in the fiber. Pet urine can cause permanent damage to textiles as well as create an unhealthy indoor living environment if not removed promptly. When urine is first deposited onto a carpet or fabric, it is in a neutral state. This means it is easier to remove when it is fresh. Once the urine is allowed to dry it turns to alkaline (thus the ammonia odor) and becomes more difficult to remove. If left for months, depending on the fiber type, it could permanently change the dye structure of the fabric and cause the fiber to deteriorate. To prevent permanent staining, clean urine deposits immediately. If permanent staining occurs, we may be able to dye the spot at an additional cost.

My carpet has bleached or faded spots, can you correct that?

If you have spots or small areas that have been bleached out, they may be spot dyed, depending on the type of carpet fiber.

What is the normal drying time after the carpets have been cleaned?

We recommend turning on all ceiling fans and making sure your central air is turned on for proper ventilation throughout your home/business. Typical drying times may range from 4-8 hours depending on air circulation. Try to limit foot traffic on your freshly cleaned carpets. Be sure to use caution when walking from freshly cleaned carpet onto hard surface floors as it may be very slippery.

After the carpets have been cleaned, when can they be walked on?

Carpeting can be walked on as soon as the carpets are cleaned. If you have a stain repellent applied after the cleaning you should wait an hour for that application to dry. When walking on the carpet you should wear indoor shoes or slippers, socks or stalking feet. Using those types of footwear will help to reduce the chance of tracking soil on the damp carpet. Be careful not to slip and fall when walking from carpeted areas to hard surface floors (tile, linoleum, hardwood, or laminate floors). The bottoms of your footwear will be damp creating a potentially slippery surface when walking from carpet to hard surface.

What furniture would be expected to be moved when I have my carpets cleaned?

Due to liability concerns, if asked, we will only move light furniture that one technician could expect to move, such as chairs, love seats or tables. Furniture that we don't move: bookcases, entertainment centers, large sectionals, fish tanks, beds, waterbeds, china cabinets, computers and delicate or fragile items. It is always best to remove items and breakables to an area that is not being cleaned before we arrive.
